Eddie Catz was founded by entrepreneurial London parents Maria and Darren Johnson. They had two young children under the age of five and saw the need for an upmarket play facility. They wanted a space that was more than just a play centre, a place where children could have an enriching experience by playing and learning in a safe and clean environment whilst a parent could have some respite in the form of a grown-up space to chill out, read the newspaper, surf the net, have a meal or join a class with their child. They also wanted a place where you could have a stress free birthday party that wouldn't break the bank and where children could enjoy a healthy meal. They couldn't find anything, so they decided to create one themselves, and so with the support of family and friends (and a really cool bank), the first Eddie Catz opened on Putney High Street in April 2005 and is now a popular venue for pre-schoolers. It has gone from strength to strength, as has the Eddie Catz character himself, winning awards along the way.

In February 2008, they launched a second site, this time in south Wimbledon. With its extra space, the Wimbledon centre allows Eddie Catz to create an environment which can offer fun for children up to the age of 10.

Eddie Catz continues to be a forerunner in the industry with its uniqueness and excellence in customer service. It also prides itself on partnering with top pre-school class providers and entertainers and now hosts a full curriculum of enrichment and "mother-and-me" classes as well as holiday activities for children 0-10 and will grow - slowly but surely - opening further centres and franchises in the future.

Each Eddie Catz centre has a little shop corner where party bag fillers, practical toddler items and gifts are sold. We have now decided to offer these items online to make it easier for parents to shop in peace and have the items delivered directly to their door!
